AIS Receiver for chartplotters EASY SPLIT

AIS Receiver for chartplotters EASY SPLIT

This receiver is ideal for use with chart plotters such as the Raymarine C and E series as it has a multiplexer function that can simplify installation with some systems and reduce cost.  It monitors both channels (A and B) by alternating between the frequencies.

It has the usual NMEA output at 38,800 baud and will display AIS data on Raymarine (and other) C and E chart plotters once the baud rate on the plotter has been set to the same rate.

Ths unit has an NMEA input originally intended for GPS data at 4,800 baud - this data is multiplexed for output with the AIS data at 38,400 baud.  This input can be used instead for other Raymarine equipment using NMEA such as the commonly used Smart Heading Sensor - an element required for MARPA with Raymarine radar.

An additional feature of EASY AIS is that the output can be set to 4,800 baud giving the option to input data to other chartplotters and software that do not require 38,400 baud.

Couple this unit with a Comar ASR100 splitter for a simple low cost AIS receiver setup.

RRP of the EASY AIS receiver is £290.94 our price £259.50

RRP of the ASR100 splitter is £82.80 our price £78.25

AIS Receiver for chartplotter and PC - AIS MULTI

AIS Receiver for chartplotter and PC - AIS MULTI

The NEW AIS-MULTI from Comar Sytems is a combined AIS Dual Channel Receiver and Antenna Splitter all in one compact unit. Installation is quick and easy as it utilises the boats existing VHF Radio Antenna to provide AIS reception, thus reducing cost and time.

The AIS MULTI has the facility to accept NMEA data giving the option of adding GPS information or, in the case of Raymarine C and E series, Smart Heading Data so that the MULTI can be used in many situations without the requirment for a multiplexer.  The NMEA output can be set at 38,400 baud or 4,800 bauddepcing on the requirment of chart plotters.

AIS information received can be displayed on a compatible Chart Plotter using the NMEA 0183 output, and at the same time the unit can be connected to a PC via the USB port to display data onto a compatible Charting program.

The unit is powered by the boats 12/24VDC supply. The signal from the Antenna is amplified before being shared by the VHF Radio and internal AIS Receiver, thus ensuring minimum insertion loss.

AIS AST100 Comar transponder splitter

AIS AST100 Comar transponder splitter

SIMPLIFY THE INSTALLATION OF YOUR AIS TRANSPONDER!

The Comar AST100 splitter is a new product that allows VHF radios, AIS Class B transponders, and FM radios to be connected to one VHF antenna.

The AST100 is designed for operation with marine VHF radios and AIS transponders.  The great advantage of this splitter is that the radio operates normally when the splitter is switched off which means that it can be conveniently operated on the same circuit and the CSB200.  When the CSB200 and AST100 are switched on the splitter suppresses transmission from the CSB200 if it detects a voice transmission on the VHF radio - therefore in an emergency voice transmission takes precedence.

Designed to operate with the majority of AIS transponders we have carried out trials and found the unit gives excellent operation with the Comar CSB200 transponder and a marine VHF antenna.  This option allows the advantage of having the AIS antenna at the masthead giving significantly extra transmission and receiving range.
  • Simple and quick to install, using a single VHF antenna for both AIS and VHF operation saves installation cost and time.
  • Failsafe operation ensures priority to VHF voice and DSC even if the splitter power supply fails.
  • Minimal in circuit insertion loss
  • Additional output available for FM radio antenna connection
  • Simple LED indicators show when VHF voice radio or AIS is transmitting or receiving.
  • Includes RF leads for connection with AIS transponder, VHF radio, and a power lead.
  • Operation from 12/24 VDC

Supplied complete with RF connecting leads for your radio and AIS unit

This high quality AIS transponder from Comar Systems on the Isle of Wight is an important element in the safety of yachtsmen.  In addition to gathering information concerning other vessels for display on your PC it also broadcasts the details of your own vessel enabling you to be seen by local shipping and enabling them to contact your yacht using DSC if necessary.  Comar confirm that the unit operates very well with a conventional VHF antenna - with little measurable benefit in using a specially tuned unit.  Height is important however and to operate at the masthead without interfering with your marine VHF the EasySplit OCB splitter (shown above) is recommended.  We have set up this unit using a standard VHF antenna at the masthead and have received AIS data from vessels at a distance of over 20 miles.

Comar products give excellent performance this together with their compact and robust design makes them a popular choice for commercial applications.

Also see our special AIS/Splitter kit (below) which contains extra required cables.

The CSB200 is a sturdy compact unit 190mm x 120mm x 50mm
